Job Description

The Credit Manager (Operations) plays a key role in maintaining and enforcing the organisation’s credit policies and overseeing the credit approval process in alignment with internal standards and regulatory requirements.Primary Responsibilities:- Manage daily operations of the credit department, ensuring high customer service standards and efficient handling of inquiries and disputes, promoting fairness and transparency.
- Provide leadership to the credit operations team, setting clear objectives that align with broader financial and growth strategies.
- Facilitate coordination between credit and other departments, such as sales, marketing, and compliance, to ensure a unified approach to client service, risk management, and product delivery.
- Oversee due diligence and credit approval processes within established guidelines, ensuring strong credit quality and effective risk control.
- Guide the adoption of new credit technologies and methodologies for greater operational efficiency and enhanced risk assessment.
- Monitor and review the credit portfolio regularly, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s risk appetite through thorough risk assessments.
- Remain up to date on market trends, economic shifts, and regulatory developments, adapting credit policies as needed and offering strategic insights to support business development.
- Produce and analyse credit reports and conduct portfolio stress testing as required.
- Participate in internal committees, contributing informed credit-related insights.
- Develop, update, and implement credit policies, procedures, and guidelines in line with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
- Oversee regulatory credit reporting and ensure full departmental compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Lead, manage, and develop team members within the credit department to enhance overall capability and performance.
- Proficiency in Excel and data management
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Effective organisational and time management skills
- Capacity to work independently and make sound decisions
- Strong results orientation and adherence to deadlines
- Minimum 5 years of experience in credit management or related roles in the financial or banking sector
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, economics, or a related field
- Proven experience in leading teams and managing credit operations
