Xara Catering, part of the esteemed Xara Collection, is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Chief Steward to lead our stewarding team in delivering top-tier service for high-profile events, weddings, and large-scale functions. The Chief Steward plays a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness of all back-of-house areas. You will be responsible for supervising stewarding staff, managing equipment and inventory, and maintaining hygiene and safety standards across all catering functions. Key Responsibilities: • Supervise and coordinate the activities of stewarding staff during events and daily operations • Ensure all kitchen and service equipment is clean, well-maintained, and properly stored • Oversee dishwashing, waste management, and sanitation practices • Manage inventory and requisitions of cleaning materials, equipment, and banquet supplies • Implement and monitor compliance with hygiene, safety, and HACCP standards • Support the culinary and service teams in ensuring smooth event execution • Train and motivate stewarding staff for efficiency and team consistency Requirements: • Proven experience as Chief Steward or Steward Supervisor, preferably in catering or large event operations • Strong leadership and organizational skills • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and HACCP regulations • Ability to manage a team and work effectively under pressure • Excellent communication and time management skills • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required About Us The Xara Collection: Forming part of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux, The Xara Palace is a unique Boutique Hotel hidden away in the heart of the Medieval fortified City, of Mdina, and is a definition of Architectural Style and Culture.
