We are looking for a Senior Linux Infrastructure Engineer to be based in our office in Malta, responsible for managing and evolving distributed infrastructure across on-premise data centers and AWS cloud environments. The role will focus on ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of systems, while driving automation, observability, and continuous improvement across the infrastructure stack. The role requires close collaboration with global development teams to support deployments, troubleshoot complex issues, and optimize system performance. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on experience in Linux system administration, AWS (EC2, S3), and infrastructure automation using tools such as Ansible, along with proficiency in scripting (Bash/Python) and monitoring solutions. A strong mindset towards problem-solving, ownership, and maintaining high-availability and secure environments is essential. Roles and Responsibilities: Manage and evolve distributed systems across on-premise and AWS environments (EC2, S3) Design and maintain observability (monitoring, alerting, logging) using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK/OpenSearch Administer and maintain Linux (Ubuntu) and Windows Server environments Automate infrastructure using Ansible for provisioning, patching, and configuration management Troubleshoot incidents across network, OS, and application layers Ensure system security, including vulnerability management, access control, and compliance Collaborate with development teams to support deployments and optimize performance Administer and optimize databases and messaging systems (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, etc.) Develop backup strategies and maintain system documentation Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident response Develop and test new infrastructure solutions and enhancements Design and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies Optimize AWS environments including cost management and capacity planning. Requirements Technical Experience: 5+ years of experience in Linux system administration (Ubuntu) Experience in Windows Server administration Strong hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM) Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python) for automation Experience with Ansible for configuration management (required) Knowledge of networking concepts and tools (e.g., Cisco ASA, protocols) Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, CloudWatch) Strong understanding of security best practices (firewalls, SSH hardening, vulnerability management) Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL (required) and familiarity with NoSQL/databases (MongoDB, Redis, etc.) Experience with Git-based workflows Qualifications: Strong command of English (written and verbal) Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience) 5+ years of experience in Linux system administration or infrastructure engineering Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator) are an advantage Benefits Why Join CARMA?
