Job Description :Our client, a prominent and well-established player in Malta’s retail sector, is looking to recruit an Accounts Clerk / Credit Controller to join its growing Finance Team.This position is ideal for a motivated individual at an early stage of their accounting career who is keen to gain hands-on experience across accounts receivable, credit control, and general finance operations within a fast-paced commercial environment.Key ResponsibilitiesThe selected candidate will be responsible for a mix of accounting support and credit control duties, including:

• Maintain accurate financial records, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger entries

• Monitor outstanding balances and actively follow up with customers to ensure timely collections

• Process invoices, payments, and receipts, while reconciling customer and bank accounts

• Assist with month-end and year-end processes, including reporting and reconciliations

• Support budgeting, forecasting, payroll tasks, and compliance with local regulations

• Maintain organised financial documentation and assist with audits and internal controls

Requirements

• Up to 2 years’ experience in an accounting, finance, or credit control role

• Exposure to a Maltese company environment will be considered an asset

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting software is preferred

• Excellent communication skills in English; Maltese is highly desirable

• Confidence in handling client communication, particularly for payment follow-ups

• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team

• A proactive attitude with strong attention to detail and deadlines

Licenses & Qualifications

• A qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Diploma, AAT, Degree, or equivalent experience)

• Basic understanding of accounting principles and local compliance requirements
