Role Overview The Chief Commercial Officer will play a pivotal role in shaping and leading the Company’s commercial direction. This executive-level position is responsible for driving sustainable revenue growth, strengthening market presence, and identifying strategic opportunities across local and international markets. The successful candidate will oversee sales, business development, commercial planning, and tendering activities while fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders and ensuring commercial objectives are achieved. Key Responsibilities Commercial Leadership: Develop and execute strategic commercial initiatives designed to support business expansion, improve profitability, and strengthen the Company’s market position across multiple sectors and territories. Revenue Growth & Sales Management: Lead the sales and business development function by establishing measurable objectives, monitoring performance, and ensuring the achievement of revenue targets through effective planning and execution. Team Development: Manage, mentor, and support commercial teams by promoting accountability, encouraging collaboration, and identifying opportunities for professional development and performance enhancement. Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, contractors, suppliers, and strategic partners to support long-term business growth and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. Tendering & Contract Negotiation: Oversee the preparation and submission of complex proposals and commercial bids, ensuring competitive positioning while managing negotiations and contractual agreements effectively. Commercial Planning & Market Expansion: Identify emerging market opportunities, assess industry developments, and contribute to international growth strategies while supporting the development of pricing structures and service offerings. Financial Oversight: Monitor commercial performance through forecasting, budgeting, KPI tracking, and sales analysis to ensure business objectives and profitability targets are consistently achieved. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with departments including Finance, Operations, HR, and Technical teams to align commercial priorities with overall business objectives and operational capabilities. Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. An MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification would be considered an asset. Experience: A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a senior commercial leadership role within engineering, technical services, construction, or project-driven environments, with exposure to managing large-scale commercial operations and high-value client accounts. Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset. Communication Skills: Strong presentation and communication abilities, with the capability to convey commercial strategies, negotiate effectively, and influence stakeholders at all levels. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to establish trusted professional relationships, work collaboratively across departments, and maintain productive interactions with clients, suppliers, and business partners. Technical Skills: Proficiency in CRM platforms, commercial reporting tools, and project management systems, together with a strong understanding of commercial operations, sales performance analysis, and strategic planning. Organisation: Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities, oversee complex commercial activities, and maintain focus in a fast-moving business environment. Self-Motivated: Results-oriented and proactive, with the drive to identify opportunities, improve performance, and contribute strategically to the continued success of the Business. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate commercial data, address operational challenges, and implement practical solutions that support long-term growth. Leadership & Team Management: Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams, implement performance-driven structures, and create an environment focused on accountability, motivation, and continuous improvement.
