The post holder will contribute to a dynamic medical teaching setting where well-maintained facilities are essential in supporting excellence in learning and research. The campus comprises modern teaching spaces, laboratories, offices, and communal areas, all of which depend on effective and responsive maintenance to remain fully operational. This position offers the opportunity to join a professional and supportive Estates and Facilities team, committed to delivering high standards across the campus estate. This is a permanent post on a 35hrs per week basis. Benefits include 30 days of Annual Leave entitlement as basic vacation leave. Closing date for applications is Wednesday 27th May 2026 Valuing Diversity & Committed to Equality Job Profile/Person Specification Main Duties and Responsibilities Provide technical services across all Queen Mary Malta sites including plumbing works and specific electrical tasks that do not require electrical licensing to perform, which involve diagnosing faults, carrying out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. Conduct general building maintenance and minor repairs, including carpentry, plumbing, door repairs and painting. Ensure external areas (parking lots, gardens, and pathways etc) are clean, safe, and well-maintained. Working with the Facilities team to ensure effective and customer-focused service delivery. Inform the Campus Manager on the necessary procurement of materials and services to ensure timely repairs of equipment and facilities. Maintain records as required. Ensure that all work is completed in accordance with Health and Safety policies and standard operating procedures. Support monthly site reviews to ensure that areas are maintained to the highest standards and remaining within the Health and Safety requirements. Promote and support a positive and proactive technical and Health and Safety culture. Assist third-party contractors such as Legionella Testing, waste disposal, deliveries, pest control etc Assist in the setup and breakdown of rooms for meetings, events, and special functions. This may also require manual handling of furniture and equipment (Training will be provided). Report maintenance issues, hazards, or building defects promptly to the Campus Manager. Undertaking Fire Marshal Training as a member of the QMUL Malta Fire Safety Team and other training as required (Training will be provided). Requirements Essential (E) / Desirable (D) Qualifications Certification in Maintenance or relevant qualification E O’ Level in Maltese, Mathematics and English D Knowledge and Experience Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Maintenance post E Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, painting, and basic electrical work E Knowledge of SFG20 standards D Excellent knowledge of Health and Safety practices E Knowledge in identifying and using the proper tools needed to work safely and effectively E Skills/Abilities Good IT skills including use of Microsoft Office D Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently and manage time effectively E Ability to respond promptly to reactive requests and changing priorities E Good verbal and written communication skills E Ability to solve problems, think creatively and plan solutions E The flexibility to work outside of the normal working schedule E Essential/Desirable: E = Essential: Requirements without which the job could not be done.
