Job Description : Our Client, Malta’s leading waste management and environmental services company, is expanding its operations and is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead day-to-day operational activities while supporting the company’s continued growth and the development of its forthcoming waste treatment facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, compliant, and commercially effective operations, while leading teams, managing resources, supporting client relationships, and driving continuous improvement. This is a key leadership position for an individual who is passionate about operational excellence, sustainability, and contributing to Malta’s evolving waste treatment sector. Key Responsibilities Lead and oversee daily waste management operations, ensuring efficient service delivery, operational continuity, and compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Plan and optimise workforce, vehicles, equipment, and other operational resources to maximise productivity, minimise downtime, and control costs. Coordinate operational projects and collaborate with Project, Sales, Compliance, Permitting, Engineering, and Environmental teams to ensure successful delivery within agreed budgets and timelines. Monitor operational performance, costs, KPIs, forecasts, and project progress, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, profitability, and service quality. Manage operational relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensuring high standards of service delivery and the prompt resolution of operational issues. Support the planning, development, commissioning, and operational readiness of the company’s new waste treatment facility, including SOPs, workflows, emergency procedures, contractor coordination, and equipment readiness. Requirements Minimum 5 years’ experience in operations management or a related senior operational role, preferably within waste management, environmental services, industrial operations, or a similar sector. Proven experience in operational planning, workforce management, resource allocation, and project coordination. Strong understanding of waste management practices, environmental obligations, health and safety requirements, and operational compliance. Strong financial and analytical skills, with the ability to monitor operational costs, interpret KPIs, manage budgets, and identify opportunities for improved profitability. Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and build strong client relationships. Proactive and accountable approach, with a strong commitment to continuous improvement, sustainability, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance. Licenses & Qualifications A recognised qualification in Operations Management, Business Management, Environmental Management, Engineering, Logistics, or a related discipline. Relevant professional qualifications or certifications in waste management, environmental management, health & safety, or quality management will be considered an advantage. Knowledge of applicable Maltese and EU environmental, waste management, and health & safety legislation. Experience working with regulatory authorities, audits, permitting processes, and integrated management systems. A valid driving licence is required. Additional training or certification in project management, risk assessment, ISO management systems, or operational excellence will be considered an asset. Benefits Competitive salary.
