Job Description – Road Construction Operative Location: Malta Industry: Road Construction Salary: 16,640 - 17,680 Euros/18.3 lakh - 19.5 lakh INR Gross per Annum (1,386.67 - 1,473.33 Euros/ 1.53 lakh - 1.62 Lakh INR Gross per Month) Job Summary We are seeking skilled, hard-working Road Construction Operatives to join our team in Malta. The successful candidates will carry out the construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation of roads, pavements, and other civil infrastructure projects. They will work alongside Heavy Equipment Operators, Heavy Truck Drivers, and Site Supervisors to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards. Key Responsibilities Carry out road construction, maintenance, resurfacing, and rehabilitation works. Prepare construction sites by clearing debris, setting out work areas, and installing traffic management measures where required. Perform manual excavation, backfilling, levelling, and compaction of materials. Lay asphalt, concrete, kerbstones, paving blocks, and other road construction materials. Load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment around the site. Operate hand tools, power tools, and small construction equipment safely and efficiently. Carry out drainage works and install road signage, barriers, kerbs, and related infrastructure as instructed. Work effectively alongside Heavy Equipment Operators and Heavy Truck Drivers during construction activities. Maintain a clean, safe, and organised worksite. Follow instructions from Site Supervisors and Engineers to ensure work is completed according to project specifications. Comply with all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and company policies. Report hazards, unsafe conditions, equipment defects, or incidents immediately. Carry out manual work related to the assigned job as required by the Site Supervisor. Carry out any other construction duties assigned by management. Requirements Minimum 2 years of experience in road construction, civil engineering, or general construction. Experience in road construction, resurfacing, asphalt works, paving, kerb laying, drainage works, or similar civil works. Ability to perform physically demanding work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions. Knowledge of construction tools, equipment, and safe working practices. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality. Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime when required to meet project deadlines. Must be physically fit and willing to carry out manual work related to the assigned job. Basic understanding of spoken and written English. Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and quality. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in asphalt paving, kerb laying, drainage works, or road maintenance. Construction Skills Certification or equivalent is considered an advantage. First Aid or Health and Safety certification is an asset.
