Job Description

The Rooms Division Quality Officer reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for monitoring quality standards across the hotel, with a key focus on Housekeeping and Maintenance. The role involves inspecting guest rooms, public and back-of-house areas, identifying deficiencies, documenting findings and following up on required improvements. This is a non-managerial position requiring strong attention to detail, consistency, discipline and tact when working with operational departments. Key Responsibilities Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas and back-of-house areas, ensuring cleanliness and presentation standards are maintained. Identify and report Housekeeping and Maintenance deficiencies, including damaged or poorly maintained facilities, fixtures and equipment. Follow up on reported issues to ensure appropriate corrective action has been taken. Monitor overall hotel presentation from a guest's perspective and identify opportunities for improvement. Observe and report potential Health & Safety hazards or unsafe practices. Monitor recycling, waste separation and sustainability practices across relevant operational areas. Maintain accurate inspection records, photographs and follow-up reports. Highlight recurring issues, trends and outstanding actions to the General Manager. Work collaboratively and tactfully with Housekeeping, Maintenance, Front Office and other operational departments. Support the hotel in continuously improving quality standards and guest satisfaction. The Ideal Candidate Previous experience within hospitality, Housekeeping, Rooms Division, Maintenance or hotel operations is preferred. Exceptional attention to detail and observation skills. High standards of cleanliness, organisation and presentation. Professional and tactful communication skills. Disciplined, consistent and able to work independently. Good organisational, reporting and follow-up skills. Basic knowledge of Health & Safety and sustainability practices would be an asset. Comfortable using basic computer systems to complete reports and maintain trackers. About the Role The Rooms Division Quality Officer's role is to inspect, observe, document, report and follow up on quality matters. The position does not directly supervise or manage operational employees.
