This is a senior technology leadership position combining enterprise application management, software engineering, cloud infrastructure and team leadership. You will play an important role in overseeing business-critical enterprise systems, leading technical teams and driving the modernisation of applications and infrastructure across Microsoft and cloud environments. The role requires a balance of strategic leadership and hands-on technical expertise, with responsibility for ensuring enterprise platforms and internally developed applications remain secure, scalable, reliable and aligned with organisational objectives. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, technical teams and external technology partners to deliver modern solutions and support the organisation's long-term technology strategy. Key Responsibilities Enterprise Applications & Platform Management Oversee the organisation's enterprise application environment, ensuring systems remain secure, reliable and fit for business needs. Manage and support Microsoft SharePoint (on-premises and online) and Microsoft Hybrid Exchange environments. Oversee related enterprise platforms including SQL Server, Microsoft 365, Power Platform and Atlassian Cloud. Support the ongoing development, maintenance and improvement of internally developed business applications. Ensure effective integration, performance, security and lifecycle management across enterprise platforms. Cloud Transformation & Modernisation Lead cloud adoption and infrastructure modernisation initiatives across Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Oversee the migration and redesign of legacy applications and systems into modern cloud environments. Support the adoption of modern architectures including microservices, containerisation, Kubernetes and serverless technologies. Ensure cloud solutions are designed with appropriate security, scalability, resilience and cost efficiency. Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements to enterprise architecture and infrastructure. Software Development & Engineering Leadership Jointly lead software development activities, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality applications. Oversee the full software development lifecycle for applications primarily built using .NET, IIS and SQL Server. Establish and maintain development standards covering architecture, code quality, maintainability and security. Promote modern engineering practices including Agile, DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, peer code reviews and secure development methodologies. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to software developers and application support professionals. Ensure internally developed solutions remain aligned with business requirements and technology standards. Team Leadership & Management Jointly lead and develop multidisciplinary IT teams responsible for enterprise applications and software delivery. Support recruitment, performance management and professional development activities. Establish clear objectives, responsibilities and technical standards across the team. Promote collaboration, accountability, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement. Provide guidance on complex technical challenges and support critical decision-making. Governance, Security & Project Delivery Ensure enterprise applications and development activities comply with relevant regulatory and security requirements, including DORA, GDPR, AML/CFT obligations and applicable ISO standards. Manage technology projects from planning through implementation, ensuring delivery within agreed timelines, scope and quality expectations. Conduct technical assessments, market research and technology evaluations. Prepare technical and commercial tender documentation and participate in supplier evaluation processes. Manage relationships with external technology vendors, consultants and service providers. Work closely with senior stakeholders to communicate technical recommendations, risks and project progress. Represent the organisation in relevant technical, regulatory and industry discussions when required. Requirements 8+ years of relevant professional experience in Information Systems, Enterprise Applications, Software Engineering, IT Management or a related field. Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems or a related discipline at MQF/NQF Level 6 or higher, or an equivalent recognised professional qualification. Candidates without the specified qualifications may also be considered with 15+ years of relevant experience. Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft enterprise platforms, particularly: Microsoft SharePoint - on-premises and SharePoint Online Microsoft Hybrid Exchange Proven experience leading software development teams and enterprise application teams. Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices, including Agile delivery, DevOps, CI/CD, code reviews and secure software development. Substantial practical experience with both AWS and Microsoft Azure, including cloud architecture, networking, identity management, security and cost governance. Strong technical understanding of enterprise application architecture, integration and operational management. Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure and deliver within demanding timelines. Willingness to provide support during critical incidents or emergencies outside standard working hours when required. Nice to Have Professional cloud certifications such as: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or Professional Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert Experience administering Microsoft 365, Power Platform and Atlassian Cloud. Experience supporting or developing bespoke .NET-based business applications. Previous experience within financial services, regulatory organisations or other highly governed environments.
