Job Description
A multidisciplinary organisation based in Malta with expertise in trust, corporate services and family office advisory are seeking a high-calibre tax compliance specialist to lead, develop and scale its corporate tax service line. This senior role combines strategic business development, complex direct tax advisory and risk oversight, supported by the active mentorship of an expanding team of professionals. You will act as the principal authority for clients and stakeholders, ensuring total technical excellence. To excel in this position, you must have a proven track record managing client portfolios within a professional services environment. We are looking for a proactive leader with a sharp commercial mindset, excellent communication skills, and a desire to build an innovative, tech-forward direct tax practice. Responsibilities will include defining and executing the tax services line strategy. Promoting innovation, efficiency and the use of tax technology and automation tools. Provide expert tax advice on a number of issues including corporate reorganisations, M&A, investment structures and transfer pricing policies and documentation to support cross-border structures and compliance with OECD principles. Act as the key tax contact for major clients, offering strategic and practical guidance tailored to their needs. You will also demand staying ahead of international and domestic tax developments, including OECD BEPS, Pillar 2, CRS, FATCA, and other regulatory frameworks. This senior role will also require overseeing corporate tax compliance complying with Maltese tax laws and international reporting standards. Developing and maintaining tax risk frameworks, internal tax policies, procedures and best practice frameworks to ensure consistency and efficiency across the department. Building strong, long-term client relationships by providing trusted, proactive advice on tax matters, cross-selling tax services and actively participate in industry forums, seminars, and professional associations. Mentoring and leading and developing the tax team will play an important part of the role requiring resourcing, performance reviews, training and professional development. You will contribute to the strategic growth of the firm by identifying and developing opportunities to expand tax services to showcase our client's tax expertise. A Bachelors degree in accountancy, law, taxation or an equivalent professional qualification with extensive experience in tax advisory, compliance, and planning, ideally gained within a professional service company or Big 4 accountancy firm. Strong knowledge of Maltese tax legislation would be preferable, international tax developments, and regulatory reporting obligations. Technical expertise in direct taxation, corporate structuring, and international tax frameworks. Candidates from outside Malta can also be considered.
