An international insurance company is looking to hire an Assistant Financial Controller to join their team in Malta, who will be responsible for accurate financial reporting and technical accounting.Responsibilities:

• Process and validate underwriting and claims bordereaux.
• Post all insurance-related general ledger entries and reinsurance workings.
• Calculate and record unearned premiums, commissions, and deferrals.
• Perform key account reconciliations and maintain audit-ready documentation.
• Lead technical month-end close inputs and support management reporting.
• Provide variance analysis and financial insights for budgeting and forecasting.
• Support audits, regulatory compliance, and cross-team collaboration.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls.

Requirements:

• Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CPA or equivalent) with 3+ years' post-qualification experience in insurance financial control.
• Strong knowledge of insurance and reinsurance accounting.
• Advanced Excel skills; financial systems experience preferred.
• High attention to detail, analytical, proactive, and strong communicator.
