Head of Legal and Compliance

Job Description

Our client is seeking to recruit for a Head of Legal and Compliance. As Head of Legal & Compliance, you will oversee all legal and compliance matters ensuring alignment with EU and national regulations.Duties include:

• Direct and oversee the Legal & Compliance function, ensuring robust governance and effective risk management across the organization.
• Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership and the Board on legal, regulatory, and compliance matters.
• Deliver commercially focused, solution-oriented legal guidance that supports business objectives and sustainable growth.
• Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of key agreements, including Commercial Agreements, SaaS Contracts, Distribution Agreements, Reinsurance Treaties, and Group Insurance Policies.
• Provide specialist advice on insurance policy wording, claims disputes, coverage interpretation, and product development.
• Support legal and contractual aspects of partnerships and intra-group arrangements across the organization.
• Ensure adherence to EU and national regulatory frameworks, including Solvency II, the Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD), and AML/CFT requirements.
• Oversee regulatory compliance of insurance products, governance frameworks, and operational processes.
• Provide legal support for cross-border initiatives and new market entry strategies.
• Lead legal risk management initiatives and oversee dispute resolution strategies.
• Manage litigation matters, claims exposures, and external counsel relationships efficiently and strategically.

Requirements

• 7 years of experience within the insurance industry is required
• Proven track record in managing legal and compliance functions across multiple jurisdictions.
• Masters Degree in Law
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Strong knowledge of insurance products and regulations
