Job DescriptionOur client is a government agency working to prevent money laundering and terrorism financing in Malta. They are currently seeking to recruit a Legal Officer - International Relations to join the Legal Affairs section.Key Responsibilities:

• Monitoring, analysing and reporting on EU and international AML/CFT legislative and policy developments and identifying any implications for the agency and for Malta's compliance framework.
• Drafting, negotiating and maintaining Memoranda of Understanding with the agency's foreign counterparts, including AML/CFT supervisory authorities and supranational authorities.
• Coordinating efforts to convene bilateral or multilateral meetings with the agency's foreign counterparts to share knowledge, expertise and best practices in the area of AML/CFT.
• Preparing agendas, minutes, follow-up actions and technical documentation for high-level meetings and international engagements.
• Assisting in replying to queries and questionnaires that the agency may receive from time to time.
• Supporting preparations for mutual evaluations, peer reviews and technical assessments.
• Representing the agency or Malta in international or supranational fora or working groups of AML/CFT relevance.
• Assisting other agency functions and sections in the transportation and implementation of international and supranational AML/CFT standards, including EU directives and regulations, and in the execution of their duties and responsibilities.
• Carrying out any other duties as may be assigned by senior management.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• An MQF Level 6 qualification in International Relations, European Studies, Law, Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, Finance or another relevant subject, alongside a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
• Previous experience in a similar position within a regulatory or government authority, FIU, EU institution or within an international policy environment, alongside knowledge of relevant EU legislation related to the sector will be considered an asset.
• Sound understanding of the laws that govern the prevention of money laundering and funding of terrorism in Malta, the EU and other international standards in the area.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and office automation tools.
• Excellent analytical, research and presentation skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills demonstrated through a positive and collaborative approach.
