Systems Administrator

Job Description

Our client is looking for a detail-oriented System Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimise our end-user IT infrastructure.Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain user laptops, desktops, and related IT systems.
• Manage and support Windows and/or Linux server environments (e.g., Microsoft Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu Server).
• Monitor system performance and ensure high availability and reliability of infrastructure.
• Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Configure and maintain network services such as DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
• Ensure systems remain secure, patched, and compliant with internal policies and best practices.
• Manage identity and access controls, including systems such as Active Directory.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues.
• Maintain clear documentation of systems, processes, and procedures.
• Collaborate with internal IT teams on infrastructure improvements, projects, and upgrades.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, firewalls, routing).
• Experience with scripting or automation (PowerShell, Bash, or Python).

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 2-3+ years of experience in system administration or a similar role.
• Located in Malta with local experience
